I wouldn't just use it as is, but tweak it so that it would fit whatever sound was needed for that particular song. Let's say I got the exact sound from NOFX's Linoleum (which isn't that special, it's just some distortion, but I like it). These would just be templates to start from. Usually I use some random (somewhat fitting) effect when recording, then create a sound that fits better once the other tracks have been recorded or sometimes re-record with a different effect) - then finally we finetune it together before I send the stems for final mixing (mainly because it wasn't possible to just share presets like this back when I wasn't using Amplitube).
